FP_FS9_FSX

FSX Flight plan compatibility checker and converter

This small program checks/converts flight plans made for FS9 for the existence of airports which are not anymore in FSX or has been changed.

Checking:

Select one ore more bgl files or flight plan files with the selection button and press on [Check] to start the checking. The program will show the results in the text box as can be seen in the screen shot.

Converting:

First of all set the two output directories for the txt files and the BGL files.

When converting flight plan files the converted file will be placed in the txt output map.

While converting BGL files, TTools will decompile the flight plan, convert it, place the txt files in the txt output map, compiles the flight plans and put the bgl file in the bgl output map.

Also the program will add _FSX to the end of the filename sot show that it is FSX compatible.

Furthermore the program deals with the day shifting in FSX. In FS9 the week began on Sunday, but in FSX its changed to Monday. So Monday becomes the 0 in the flight plans and Sunday becomes 6 etc.

Select one ore more bgl files or flight plan files with the selection button and press on [Convert] to start the converting. The program will show the results in the text box as can be seen in the next screen shot.

The program uses two text files for this checking and converting.

FS9DEL.txt which list the ICAO codes of the airports that are not present anymore in FSX and FS9CHG.txt which has the ICAO codes for the changed airports and the needed line for the airport.txt file.

OE0J,OE53,N24* 56.52′,E46* 23.47′,2419

So the FS9 airport OE0J has changed to OE53 in FSX and its position and height is N24* 56.52′,E46* 23.47′,2419.

You can change this data to your own needs if you want to redirect the aircraft to another airport, but you must also provide the right airport data. Otherwise the program (TTools) cannot compile the new BGL file.

Known issues:

There are some known issues. Using very long file names (including the path) can cause some problems when the programs starts TTools to do the decompile and the compile. It’s the same max length a command line can have.

Also TTools does not like extra information in the name like .com (easyJet.com.bgl)

For some reason when decompiling such a BGL results in the txt files reading Flightplans_easyJet.txt. The .com is stripped from the name.

Such file will be listed by the program as an Error. Just rename the bgl file and convert it again.
